Hello everyone,

On 29 October, Mrs Wangwu, vice president of Jiangnan University (Wuxi, China), concluded the fourth annual meeting of the International University of Multimedia (IUM). For one week, we were able to attend high-level conferences on current research on the development of multimedia in the coming years. The week ended with a marathon Webdesign where students from fifteen universities competed in a friendly competition of 24 hours. The jury composed of a French professor, a Chinese professor and a specialist in Chinese art graphics were awarded the Grand Prize at the University of Quebec at Montreal (team that won the Canadian selection a few months earlier). During his speech at the opening of the event, Mr Andre Blanchard, president of the IUM, has reminded us that we must intensify our efforts so that our students are increasingly aware of different cultural realities of our world. The annual meetings of the International University of Multimedia contribute and we hope these meetings will intensify collaborations which will impact students as better prepared for the world of today and tomorrow.

Here is the list of delegations attending the fourth meeting: the Digital Media College of Jiangnan University (China), University of Quebec in Abitibi-Témiscamingue (Quebec), École Supérieure de l'Audiovisuel of the University of Toulouse II - Le Mirail (France), University of Versailles Saint-Quentin (IUT Vélisy - France), University of Quebec at Montreal (Quebec), the Osaka Electro-Communication University (Japan), the Communication University of China (China), Nanjing Arts Institute (China), Suzhou University of Science and Technology (China), Digital Arts College at Shanghai University (China), Lushan College of Technology University and Guangxi Wuxi Internet Object Industrial Research Institute.

Two important facts to note:

- Students of the School Maintenance, Management and Communication, University ACEEM (Cultural Action for Education and Teaching) of Madagascar participated via the Web, the competition Webdesign.
- Jiangnan University has proposed to develop the UIM throughout Asia.

We are currently deciding where to hold the fifth annual meeting of the UIM.
