Notification of the establishment International Multimedia University

Under the initiative at the University of Quebec in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, l’École Supérieure d'Audiovisuel (ESAV) de l’Université de Toulouse Le Mirail (France), l’Institut des Sciences de l’Information et de la Communication (ISIC) de l’Université Michel de Montaigne – Bordeaux 3 (France), l’Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (UVSQ, France), l’Institut de l’Image de l’Océan Indien (ILOI, France),   Guizhou International Culture Exchange Center and Guiyang Institute (Chine), l’Universidade Federal Fluminense Niterói (Rio De Janeiro, Brésil), l’Université de Antananarive (Madagascar) et l’Université de Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso, Greek), held the first meeting of International University of Multimedia (IUM) on March 23, 2005 in Île de la Réunion, France. Communication University of China (Beijing, Chine) and Tongji University (Shanghai, China) have not been able to attend the meeting.

IUM’s establishment symbolizes an international education network formation. Its objective is advantageous to exchange experience mutually in the multimedia technology and the communication domain, realization research results in international scope application and knowledge widespread dissemination.

The IUM’s leadership organization will be composed by Partners University’s leadership. It will be responsible for the members between student and teacher's exchange, realization literature and knowledge share, new technical dissemination, as well as organization international activities.

This university faces the whole world, will pass along with the time unceasingly expand and develop.

The International University of Multimedia raises the undergraduate course, also form master and doctor graduate student. Above the diploma issues by the university who recruits the students. However, there are two kinds of International University of Multimedia certificates: Certificate of quality and outstanding certificate; the goal is enable the member universities’ students to obtain the acknowledgement in the overseas study experience.

The IUM’s certificate of quality faces all international exchange students who have participated in the foreign school practice and the summer school and so on; the outstanding certificate then must pass through the appraisal committee to evaluate. The appraisal committee is composed at least by three countries members and the student submits an overseas study report or a research paper. Above two certificates require the different lowest limit on the study duration.

In 2006, the Institut Supérieur des Arts Multimédias (ISAMM) has joined the IUM.
